Apple fights UK back door

We get to do what we like now

Apple, the self-proclaimed guardian of user privacy, is throwing a tantrum over the UK's "back door" into its oh-so-secure iCloud systems.

Complying with laws designed to protect citizens from threats like terrorism and child exploitation is just too much to ask from the tech giant that never misses a chance to flaunt its moral superiority.

Apple has filed a legal complaint with the UK's Investigatory Powers Tribunal, hoping to overturn the UK's demand to access its Advanced Data Protection (ADP) feature. This feature offers end-to-end encryption that is so impenetrable that not even Apple can access it.

This is handy for Apple because it does not have to provide coppers armed with a court order with access to cloud files of mass murdering fanboys and can provide protection for those who use its gear for nefarious purposes.

For those who came in late, Apple chose the mature route rather than complying with the UK's request: They yanked the ADP feature from all their UK users – effectively punishing them for their government.

The move has ruffled feathers across the pond, as Apple contacted its new bestie, President Donald [hamburger-eating surrender monkey] Trump, who compared the UK's demand to Chinese surveillance tactics.

Unfortunately, Trump appears to have forgotten that the last time Apple was asked to do this was when he was the last King of the United States in 2016. At the time, the FBI sought Apple's assistance to unlock the iPhone of a shooter involved in the San Bernardino attack.

The FBI obtained a court order compelling Apple to create software bypassing certain security features, effectively creating a backdoor. Apple opposed this order, citing concerns that such a backdoor could compromise the security and privacy of all its users.

Trump was furious and famously called for a boycott of Apple products until the company complied with the FBI's request to unlock the device.  Trump questioned Apple's refusal, asking, "Who do they think they are?"

Despite his call for a boycott, Trump continued to use his iPhone.

Strange he forgot all about that, we guess that happens when you reach an advanced age.
