Trump’s ghost in the machine

White House blames “spiritual warfare” for tech failures

The next time your PC freezes or the server room catches fire, don’t call tech support just grab some holy water and perform an exorcism.

That is the latest tech advice coming out of the White House, where Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt reckons supernatural forces are the reason Donald Trump’s conference call with faith leaders went sideways.

“There is spiritual warfare as we all know. It tried to break up our call today, as the president even alluded to,” said White House, Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, without irony. Apparently, it’s no longer the fault of buggy software or creaky telecoms gear, it’s Satan in your switchboard.

White House Faith Director Jenny Korn, who apparently still believes in more mundane causes, grumbled that they were “waiting for AT&T to get its act together,” clearly unaware that demonic interference is  an official IT category.

Trump took to Truth Social to point to AT&T, or more precisely its elusive boss, for the trouble.

“I’m doing a major Conference Call with Faith Leaders from all over the Country, and AT&T is totally unable to make its equipment work properly. This is the second time it’s happened. If the Boss of AT&T, whoever that may be, could get involved. It would be good. There are tens of thousands of people on the line!”

AT&T followed up has since clarified:  "Our initial analysis indicates the disruption was caused by an issue with the conference call platform, not our network."  So Trump should look for the cacodemons there.

However, now that spectral sabotage is on the official troubleshooting checklist, Apple should probably start hiring priests instead of Genius Bar staff, the Grey Box Shifter Michael Dell could swap out BIOS updates for blessings, and even Troubled Chipzilla might see the benefit of a few crucifixes in its fabs.

The message from the White House is, if your video conference goes wrong, that you should not call Dave from Tech Support, but get together some fire and brimstone and recite the Psalm 90 and perform a rite from the Key of Solomon.
