This platform is designed to resolve 6G’s evolving data processing demands.
The demonstration involved applying an AI analysis application to real-time video data transfer. Using the ISAP and Inclusive Core architecture, boffins substantially improved AI analysis accuracy, increasing the correct answer rate from 57 per cent with conventional architecture to 90 per cent.
For those not in the know, the Inclusive Core Architecture fuses the computing and networking required for 6G and the Innovative Optical and Wireless Network (IOWN) use cases, such as AI-integrated communication. This architecture is part of NTT's cunning plan to develop next-generation networking infrastructure capable of ultra-high capacity, ultra-low latency, and ultra-low power consumption.
Looking ahead, NTT and DOCOMO plan to partner with Nokia and other industry partners to promote international standardisation of the 6G architecture at 3GPP, with discussions scheduled to begin in 2025.
In a joint press release, the pair say that the partnership advances research and development and explores service provision studies for In-network Computing (INC) to support services in the 6G era.
