Based on 4nm Navi 48 GPU and AMD's new RDNA 4 architecture, both the Radeon RX 9070 XT and the Radeon RX 9070 will pack 16GB of 20 Gbps GDDR6 memory on a 256-bit memory interface. The Radeon RX 9070 XT packs 64 RDNA 4 Compute Units (CUs), with 64 hardware ray tracing accelerators and 128 hardware AI accelerators, 4,096 Stream Processors, boost clock of 2.97GHz, and a TBP of 304W. The Radeon RX 9070 has a cut down GPU with 56 CUs (56 HW RT and 112 HW AI accelerators) or 3,584 Stream Processors, works at 2.52GHz boost clock, and has a TBP of 220W. Both cards also support PCIe 5.0 x16 and come with DisplayPort 2.1a and HDMI 2.1b outputs.

AMD also provided some performance figures, which compares both of these graphics cards against the Radeon RX 7900 GRE, or now aging Radeon RX 6900 XT, GeForce RTX 3090, and the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti. According to AMD, you can expect up to a 42 percent and 21 percent increase when RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 are compared to the RX 7900 GRE at 4K resolution, and "2 percent lower performance at MSRP" compared to the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti. Of course, we will wait for some reviews to start showing up.

AMD also revealed a few more and much-awaited details about the AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 4, most commonly referred to as FSR 4. In short, AMD has confirmed that the FSR 4 will only work on Radeon RX 9000 series RDNA 4 GPUs, and it is launching with 30+ games, with 75+ coming this year. The big titles on the list are Kingdom Come Deliverance II, Horizon Forbidden West, Call of Duty Warzone, and Warhammer 40k: Space Marine II, among others.

In terms of performance, the FSR 4 promises anywhere between 2.1x and 3.4x performance gain compared to native resolution at 4K, with upscaling and Frame Generation.

As said, AMD is promising wide availability on March 6th, with plenty of SKUs coming from the usual suspects like Acer, Asus, ASRock, Gigabyte, Powercolor, Sapphire, XFX, and others. The price is a bit of a surprise as AMD is launching at $549 for the RX 9070 and $599 for the RX 9070 XT. This means it will fit between the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 and the RTX 5070 Ti.
