Radeon RX 9070 GRE launching 8 May

JD.com leak confirms launch date and pricing

So much for the rumours. AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 GRE 12 GB is now officially launching on 8 May, despite earlier mutterings about a delayed Q4 window.

The AMD has now confirmed the date, and Chinese retailer JD.com has listed it with full specs, pricing and pre-order options.

The ASUS Radeon RX 9070 GRE ATS OC card comes strapped with a triple-fan, dual-slot design, dual 8-pin power connectors, and demands a 750W PSU for its 220W total board power. Not exactly power sipping, then.

Running on the same Navi 48 GPU as the rest of the RX 9070 series, this GRE version is the most cut-down model in the bunch. We're looking at 3072 cores humming along at up to 2790 MHz, a 192-bit bus, 12 GB of GDDR6 running at 18 Gbps, and a bandwidth of 432 GB/s.

According to the retail listing, the card is priced at 4499 RMB, dropping to 4476 RMB for pre-orders. Other models float around 4199 RMB (roughly $450 or €420 without China’s 20 per cent VAT). That puts it squarely in the mid-range, though with AMD pricing these GRE cards at near-MSRP, there’s no wild premium this time.

Performance-wise, this thing is reportedly up to 6 per cent faster than the RX 7900 GRE at 1440p, which will raise eyebrows for anyone gaming at that sweet spot.

Expect this launch to be made official globally very soon. Until then, JD.com has done AMD’s work for them.
