Sony has been showing off its latest motion controller which is
half-way between a Nintendo Wii handset and the super sexy “no handset
controller” that Microsoft has been showing off.
The PlayStation
Motion Controller will be launching in 2010 and Sony showed off its new tech
at Sony's E3 press conference. SCEA's Jack Tretton claims it's an
experience "closer to real-life than anything you've ever seen" but given
that Microsoft's one does not require holding anything it is not quite as
good.
The PlayStation Controller will work in conjunction with the
PlayStation Eye, which will capture movements of the motion controller for
"true one-to-one tracking." Microsoft's one tracks a person's
movements.
Sony demonstrated sword swinging fantasy, tank-based
third-person shooting, archery, tennis and drawing. This is supposed to show
potential use for the controller, as yet there is no final software.
