New York Times gets scoop
The New York Times got a huge story last week when an email leaking details of discussions between a drug company and the U.S. government was accidentally sent to one of its reporters.
Eli Lilly was revealed to be trying to get the government to accept a billion dollar settlement in return for dropping a marketing improprieties case. Initially, there was thought that someone had leaked the information from inside the drugs company, but now it seems that one of the outside lawyers at Philadelphia-based Pepper Hamilton had mistakenly emailed confidential information on the talks to Times reporter Alex Berenson instead of Bradford Berenson, her co-counsel at Sidley Austin.
