Body heat to power chips

Five years away
Texas Instruments is hoping that it will release a chip in five years which is so energy efficient it will run on body heat.
MIT researchers have come up with a new chip design, which researchers say will reduce power consumption by 10 times. The chip was shown off at the International Solid State Circuits Conference in San Francisco.
It is expected to end up in mobile phones, PDAs and implantable medical systems. The chip works at a reduced voltage level, which allows an increase silicon complexity to handle more functions, and it also increases battery life, which is a critical component in multiple applications.
