THQ confirmed today that Red Faction III will appear on the PC, as well as the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The Red Faction series is a revival of the franchise, which has not seen a new addition since Red Faction II was launched in April 2003. Volition Studios will be handling the development of the title. Volition Studios is best known for the title, Saint’s Row.

Other than the suggestion that the new Red Faction would feature more exciting destruction technology that will take advantage of the power of the PC as well as the latest gaming console systems, details on a specific release target date were sketchy, other than it will ship sometime between April 2008 to March of 2009, which is the company’s fiscal year. We suspect that we will see some additional details on Red Faction later this year at E3.
