Court says Dish infringed on TiVo?s patents

Federal court upholds earlier ruling
Well, it appears that EchoStar Communications has been found guilty of infringing on TiVo’s DVR patents. EchoStar was told by the Federal court on Thursday that the court is upholding the earlier verdict, which is that the lower court’s award of US$89.6 million in damages should stand.
EchoStar says that they will appeal the damages award. EchoStar claims that the verdict will have no effect on its customers, as they have already deployed new software in their DVR units that does not infringe on TiVo’s patents.
TiVo says that the upholding of the initial verdict is a confirmation of the value of TiVo’s intellectual property.
