Microsoft wins patent row

Computer Acceleration's patent invalid
Microsoft has won a court battle against Acacia, which claimed that Redmond had stolen its technology for Windows XP. Acacia owns a patent purchased from Computer Acceleration for technology that helps computers boot up faster and speeds up the launch of programs.
Acacia wanted $2.50 per Windows XP license sold in the US for a total sum of between $600 million to $900 million. Originally, Acacia claimed that the technology had been installed in Vista, as well, but the the court dismissed the charges against Vista on procedural grounds.
Now it seems that a jury has decided that the original patent had no merit, either, and threw the case out.
