While Seagate did not unveil a lot of information regarding the actual SSD or the controller, it was keen to note that the Ultra Compact SSD will be both portable as well as durable. The new portable SSD measures at 70x20.40x12.50mm (2.756x0.803x0.492 inches) and weighs just 24g, which is quite impressive. It also also IP54 dust and water resistance, has 3-meter drop protection, and comes with a rubber sleeve for extra grip and protection.
As far as the actual specifications go, Seagate only said it offers transfer speeds of up to 1,000MB/s and uses a USB-C port.
The Seagate Ultra Compact SSD will be available this month directly from Seagate, priced at $99.99 for 1TB and $179.99 for the 2TB version.
