AMD has introduced its fastest quad-core processor to date, the Phenom II X4 980 Black Edition.
Clocked at 3.7GHz, the new part features 6MB of L3 cache and a 125W TDP. Like all Black Edition processors, the new Phenom is unlocked, allowing for hassle free overclocking and clocks north of 4GHz should not be a problem.
The previous 3.5GHz Phenom II X4 970 Black Edition sells for about €140 and the new part should come with a similar price tag.
