Opteron 6000 6 core platform is out

SR5690 Chipset supports up to 12 core CPUs
Today AMD officially announced its AMD Opteron 6000 series platform and revealed plans for strong support, and we're happy to finally report that Magny-Cours + AMD SR5690 chipset are locked and loaded.
Opteron 6000 generation is based on AMD's 6100 CPU, a.k.a. Magny-Cours, and will deliver the first 8 and 12 core x86 CPUs. The company is also announcing strong infrastructure and channel support and naturally, with partners such as Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, Supermicro and few others, that shouldn't be too hard.
Asus seems to already have its KGPE-D16 motherboard ready and it should nicely pair up with AMD’s Opteron 6100 Magny-Cours CPUS, whereas the rest are to follow promptly. You can expect the availability in the following weeks.
