Intel got a lot of attention with its 34nm 80GB Intel X25-M G2 Postville, 2.5", SATA II (SSDSA2MH080G2C1) drive and there is 160GB version coming soon.
This is not the end of it as Intel is working on second generation 34nm devices that will include new 80GB, 160GB and a gigantic 300GB drive. This should end up as the biggest drive so far from Intel, and looking at the traditional development it should end up faster than current Intel’s X25-M
The issue will as always be the price. SSD’s will most likely remain a tool for people who want speed no matter what the cost is, as 1500GB mechanical
drives sell for just 80€, while a 160GB Postville X25-M will set you back a saucy €360.
Give it a few years.
