Although DJI has released what appears to be the best low-light action camera on the market, they have failed to upload the correct application version to the Google Play Store, at least within the European region. As I was looking for an action camera for fishing and general outdoor activities, I decided to purchase the DJI Osmo Action 6, which is clearly superior to the GoPro 12 I have been using.
After extensive troubleshooting, I discovered that the Mimo app downloaded from Play store version 2.5.6, dated October 28, lacks support for the latest DJI Osmo Action 6 camera. To use the Osmo Action 6, download the APK 2.6 file directly from DJI site and install to gain the necessary mobile access for firmware updates and general operation on the action camera.
App Coexistence and Storage Concerns
While the two applications can technically coexist, I cannot recommend installing (keeping) both. This is due to the significant 824.44 MB download size and the likelihood of an even larger storage footprint after installation, and you will end up having two apps with the same name that will be confusing. One of them wont recognize or connect to DJI Osmo 6 camera.
Once the company updates the Mimo app in the Google Play Store, I will probably be forced to remove the manual APK version and replace it with the official store release for the convenience of automatic updates.
