According to Chosun Biz the chip, which already appeared in the Galaxy S25 range, is packed with the custom-built Oryon CPU and Hexagon NPU, which Qualcomm claims will deliver AI features that run directly on the device. The idea is to make Samsung’s so-called Galaxy AI smarter at recognising images, voices and context without having to phone home every five seconds.
Qualcomm Asia-Pacific president Kwon Oh-hyung said the launch was a big moment in the chipmaker’s bromance with Samsung.
“This launch is a significant milestone in the strategic partnership between Qualcomm and Samsung,” he said, adding that it brings “cutting-edge AI, outstanding performance, and seamless connectivity to an ultra-thin foldable form factor.”
Samsung’s MX division exec Song In-kang said the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy “enhances the completeness of the Galaxy Z Fold7 and delivers the best mobile experience in on-device AI, camera, and connectivity.”
