T-Mobile and Verizon are reportedly testing the new phones as well and once the tests are concluded, Apple is expected to green light production. One rumour has it that the phone will launch in the second half of August.
However, another rumour fresh out of China states that Apple is delaying the launch due to overheating. Apparently the A5 dual-core is a tad too hot and Apple is trying to work out a solution to keep the thermals at bay.
Then there’s talk of an interim iPhone model that would replace the iPhone 4 until the Apple manages to fix the issues. While we’re at the subject, some still believe Apple will offer two distinct versions of the new iPhone, one of which will be loosely based on the iPod touch.
So take your pick, it’s a veritable rumour buffet and a grain of salt is advised. With at least a month to go to launch, we wouldn’t bet on any of them, and some are more than just plain long shots. Of course, we can expect more speculation and wild rumours as the launch draws near and the only hope of putting an end to them is that one of the alleged AT&T testers will lose one of the alleged iPhone 5/4S or whatnot phones in a California bar.
