In addition to the Flyer tablet and "S" refresh lineup, HTC has announced a pair of Android phones that will have a main focus on social networking, or to be precise Facebook. The HTC ChaCha and the HTC Salsa, as HTC decided to call it, will feature a dedicated Facebook button that will help in almost anything that has to do with Facebook.

The ChaCha has a 2.6-inch HVGA (480x320) capcitive screen and will run on Android 2.4 paired up with an updated version of HTC Sense due to smaller display of the ChaCha. The device will be powered by Qualcomm's MSM7227 600MHz processor and 512MB of RAM and ROM memory. It will feature a 5 megapixel camera and LED flash on the rear, as well as a VGA cam on the front, 802.11bgn WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, microSD card slot, GPS, G-Sensor, digital compass, proximity and amibent light sensors and a 1250mAh battery that should be enough for up to 450 minutes of talk time for GSM and 320 for WCDMA.

The main difference, or should we say the key feature of the ChaCha, in addition to the Facebook button, is its QWERTY keyboard, which should provide easier messaging and Facebook status updating.



The HTC Salsa is pretty much the same as the ChaCha, at least when specifications are concerned. Unlike ChaCha, the Salsa lacks the QWERTY keyboard but has a larger 3.4-inch 480x320 touchscreen and a beefier 1520mAh battery. As noted, the specs are pretty much the same so you'll see the same processor, same amount of RAM and ROM and the same features as on the ChaCha.



Now we get to the main feature of both of these smartphones, the Facebook button. HTC did a lot to make these phones as integrated with the Facebook as it is possible. According to HTC, the Facebook button will pulse whenever you are doing something that can be connected to your Facebook account.

For example, a snapshot will be immediately uploaded to your profile, it will be possible to tag people on a picture, the calendar is synhced with Facebook events, Facebook messages will be included in the inbox, Facebook Chat will be supported, if you are listening to a song it will be shown on your wall and pretty much anything that you might think of and that has something to do with Facebook. It is also pretty important to note that the phone can link up with a Twitter account as well.

We are pretty sure that these phones will find customers, as there are people that pretty much can't live without their Facebook and Twitter account and these phones might be quite popular with this crowd. Both phones are scheduled to show up by the end of Q2 2011 and the price should be somewhere around the newely announced Wildfire S and Desire S.
