Just a week after the laughable April 1st launch of Geforce 9800 GTX, Nvidia has lifted its overclocked card ban.
As of today the overclocked 9800 GTX are allowed and some partners will clock this card to 720+ MHz. The reference 9800 GTX works at 675MHz and it can be overclocked almost each time to close to 800MHz.
Non-overclocked 9800 GTX is also priced at around €250 and just slightly outperforms the reference 8800 GTS (G92), but the 9800 GTX can overclock much higher.
Nvidia plays an interesting renaming game, but in case you already have 8800 GTS you should be fine for the time being. However, the €250 price for Geforce 9800 GTX cards is quite reasonable, while the overclocked cards will end up a bit higher; probably closer to €300.
