AMD kills off last AM4 gaming chip

Ryzen 7 5700X3D shipments halted

AMD appears to have pulled the plug on its Ryzen 7 5700X3D, ending the run of X3D CPUs for the company’s long-lived AM4 platform.

Dutch tech site Tweakers claims the chip has reached end-of-life status, with no further restocks planned.

The 5700X3D debuted at CES 2024 as a budget-friendly 3D V-Cache option for gamers, launching at $249.99 before sinking to a bargain $187.83 later that year. Prices then surged past launch levels in May 2025 before settling back to MSRP. Now, stock has largely vanished, with any remaining units on Amazon listed at absurd mark-ups.

This follows AMD retiring the Ryzen 5 5600X3D and Ryzen 7 5800X3D late last year, signalling the company’s shift to Zen 4 and Zen 5 parts. For those wanting a similar eight-core gaming chip today, the closest option is the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, which Amazon currently lists at $376.16.

While AM4 has been unusually durable, even getting a fresh update in June 2025 with the Ryzen 5 5500X3D, the 5700X3D’s exit suggests AMD is finally letting the gaming side of the platform fade into history.
