It weighs just 1.2kg and measures 16mm thick, which is quite impressive for a notebook that can be equipped with a Core i7 processor and up to 6GB of RAM. Toshiba managed to squeeze in an 8-cell battery in the magnesium chassis and it did a pretty good job on the keyboard, too. In fact, Tosh boasts that the stylish chiclet keyboard is spill resistant and it even features backlighting.

The usual USB 2.0 and 3.0 connectors are onboard as well, along with LAN, HDMI, VGA, memory card reader, WiFi and even optional Intel Wireless Display
Other features aside, the decision to use a matte panel rather than a glare unit will probably set the Portege Z830 apart from a lot of ultrabooks. Hopefully other vendors will also choose to offer matte screens, at least on their business oriented ultrabook designs, since glare screens on ultraportables make about as much sense as slapping a lump of spam on top of some nice veal carpaccio.
