While Google has managed to salvage its “Do no evil”
reputation by leaving China, Intel has announced that it is opening a new plant
in the the People's Republic.
According to the People's Daily, which we get for the
Spot the worker's new Tractor photo competition, Intel is telling the world+dog
that its chip plant in Dalian will be put into operation during the fourth
quarter of this year.
For those who came in late, the Dalian plant is Intel's
first chip fabrication factory in Asia. It began construction on March 26, 2007
with a total investment of 2.5 billion US dollars. Kirby Jefferson, general manager of Intel Dalian told the
People's Daily that it will make 65 nanometer chips but also prepare to upgrade
to higher-level products.
Intel entered China in 1985 and has invested more than
4.7 billion in propping up the glorious People's Economy.
