According to PC Watch, Intel is gearing up to launch a new Atom processor that should replace aging Z-series Atoms.
However, the report revealed little apart from the Oak Trail name. We
still don't have the spec or launch date, hence it's unclear what to
expect from the new chip.
Some reports indicate that Oak Trail might be a SoC design, with far
greater power efficiency than the Z-series. This means it could end up
in tablets, maybe evensome chunkier smartphones or communicators.
Mind you, we haven't come across this CPU in Intel's roadmaps, so we're
really not sure what to make of it. Take it with a grain of salt.
