Galaxy S26 gets overclocked monster at 4.74 GHz

Qualcomm is about to unleash its Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 which it claims will be the fastest mobile chip on the planet.

The Samsung Galaxy S26 will get a special binned version taming central cores up to a record‑breaking 4.74 GHz. The base variant hums at 4.61 GHz and is destined for Xiaomi, Honor, iQOO, OnePlus and Realme devices.

Under the hood is a ‘2+6’ layout: two performance cores up to 4.61 GHz, six big‑efficiency cores at 3.63 GHz, plus an Adreno 840 GPU clocked at 1.2 GHz. Rumours say it scored north of four million points in AnTuTu v11, crushing the current record of approximately 2.66 million.

Qualcomm chief Cristiano Amon said during the Q3 earnings call: “Our leadership in AI processing, high‑performance and low‑power computing, and advanced connectivity positions us to become the industry platform of choice as AI gains scale at the edge.”

The chip will debut at the Snapdragon Summit on 23 September, with devices hitting shelves in Q4 2025. And the gauntlet’s already been thrown: Apple will unveil the iPhone 17 with its A19 Pro on 9 September, and MediaTek will counter with the Dimensity 9500 on 22 September.
