Samsung crams TikTok and AI into your fridge

by on31 March 2025

Bespoke appliances now come with screens, sensors, and a heap of gimmickry

Samsung's AI-powered fridge now recognises your leftovers and plays TikTok while you grab a Coke — all for the price of a decent used car.

At its Bespoke AI conference in Seoul, Samsung showcased a full line of screen-stuffed, AI-driven appliances. The show pony remains its 4-door French-Door refrigerator, which now ships with either a 9-inch screen ($3,999) or a face-slapping 32-inch Family Hub+ display ($4,699). The former is for subtle tech-heads, the latter for those who want weather forecasts and viral dance videos above their lettuce drawer.

Internal sensors can now detect 37 types of fresh food and 50 types of processed food. The fridge will then send grocery lists to your phone or display them on its built-in screen. It means that your fridge will recommend you eat what is going off first.

Ovens got the usual “more AI” treatment. The 30-inch Bespoke wall ovens — priced at $3,759 for the single and $4,649 for the double — now feature sensors and cameras that recognise 80 different recipes. Cook the same thing five times, and the AI lets you save it, like a sentient sous-chef with a memory for lasagne. You can even shoot time-lapse videos of your soufflé rising if that’s your idea of a good time.

The dishwasher isn’t left out. At $1,399, it’ll sniff out grime with its AI-enhanced sensors and tweak the cleaning cycle. Meanwhile, the AI Jet Ultra Cordless Stick vacuum tries to outwit your carpet with smarter suction.

Not everyone’s impressed. The fridge earned a sarcastic nod in iFixit’s “Worst of CES” roundup back in January — not for lack of brains, but for being another overpriced, over-designed kitchen computer that might fall apart when the next Android update arrives.
