Our industry sources who know the market have confirmed that Asus is preparing to embrace Nvidia's Ion chipset. It looks like more and more vendors are going the Ion way and that this platform might become popular in second part of this year.
Any companies including Lenovo and HP have announced
netbooks based on Ion but they will start shipping in Q3 or later, and Asus
might jump with Ion as a solution for all in one multimedia problems. MSI is
embracing Ion for its all in ones and it already showcased it to journos.
Nvidia’s Ion is getting a lot of popularity and we can tell
you that the chip is great for basic gaming and multimedia but it might be a
bit too expensive for our taste. But as always it is the customers who will
decide.
