Patriot Memory has announced its Convoy and Convoy XL hard drive/solid state drive enclosures. Made out of aluminium, these 3.5-inch enclosures can take up to two 2.5-inch drives and have USB and SATA connectivity.

Both Convoy and Convoy XL are practically the same except for the fact that Convoy XL has a built-in RAID controller for RAID 0 and 1 configuration. They can also be used as an external docking bay for 2.5-inch drives, as they come with a little stand.

This sounds like a great idea and we can clearly see Patriot's point. There are many users that want to use 2.5-inch SSDs in their desktop systems, and the only option is to either go for the 3.5-inch to 2.5-inch adapters or in this case have a neat looking enclosure that takes a single 3.5-inch place to house two of these drives.

Both of them will be backed by a one year warranty and should be available soon.
