Maker of routers, Cisco is trying hard to make
something else and has decided that it will be a damn fine idea to push itself
into the server market in the Spring. Analysts say that when Cisco's gear hits the shos it
could cause huge competitive reactions from both IBM and HP.
Cisco said its servers will optimise virtualisation
software and be a new, potentially disruptive class of hardware and software
management systems that span an entire data centre. The new
servers will hit the shops in March apparently.
The story has been kicking around for a while but so
far no date for these new servers has been announced.
