Aussies need clamp down on cyber-racism

Not a fair go cobber, growls watchdog
The Aussie government has been told it needs to claim down on cyber-racism.
Race Discrimination Commissioner, Tom Calma, said there was insufficient monitoring of cyber-racism and the law did not provide adequate protection for victims. His call follows the news that Facebook had done little to eradicate scores of Aussie racist groups on Facebook.
Apparently, it is getting so bad that anti-racism groups have begun using the inaction to their advantage, mining social networking sites for valuable intelligence on the opposition.
Calma said that while the legal sanctions for serious racial vilification of the type often found on Websites are limited, the main problem is that it is often difficult to identify or locate the perpetrator(s).
He also said that the service providers, such as Facebook, needed to respond quicker to complaints of racist groups.
