New MacBooks next for Apple

October 14th is the expected launch date
Now that the iPod revamp and launch has been completed, Apple will now turn its attention to working on revamping the notebook product line with an expected launch date of October 14th.
Apple will be launching new MacBooks that are rumored to feature a redesigned form factor along with support for the latest Intel mobile chipset and mobile processors. This comes as no surprise, as Apple wants to take advantage of the power savings and performance of the latest Intel Mobile CPUs and mobile chipsets to keep up with the latest PC notebook launches.
Reports suggest that while Apple has been developing new MacBooks with the latest Centrino 2 mobile CPUs in them, delays and product availability issues from Intel forced Apple to delay the launch. Apple can’t be happy about the launch delay, as it will put them outside the “back-to-school” window, but they will make the holiday season, which is a strong period for notebook sales, as well.
Our Apple moles continue to tell us that we will see a new Mac Mini launched, as well, with an expected speed bump for the iMac series. While the October 14th date is yet to be confirmed by Apple, we expect that Apple will be sending out invites soon. Retailers continue to be warned that availability of MacBooks as well as iMacs will continue to be tight until around the third week of October, which does seem to indicate that Apple does expect more products to be in the channel by this time.
