Authorities in the Glorious People’s Republic of China have indicted five people in central China over their involvement in a bizarre organ trafficking case.

The suspects face charges of organizing the removal and transplant of a kidney from a 17-year-old high school student, who offered to trade his kidney for an iPhone and iPad. A spokesperson for the local prosecutor’s office confirmed that the defendants are facing charges of “intentional injury.”

The suspects include a surgeon, hospital contractor and brokers who organized the deed. The group received $35,000 for the transplant and they gave $3,500 to the student, sharing the rest among themselves and several medical staff involved in the procedure.

Eventually, the teen spilled the beans on the immoral arrangement to his mother, who confronted him after he bought the gadgets.
