Skate outselling Tony Hawk 2 to 1

Surprising result from new EA contender
Skatingboarding games have been the domain of the Tony Hawk Series for years, but with the launch of newcomer “Skate” from Electronic Arts, that all is changing. Despite the fact that Skate launched on fewer platforms than the latest Tony Hawk title called “Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground”, Skate is outselling the longtime champ at a rate of 2 to 1.
Skate was developed by EA’s Black Box studios and only launched on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The results are impressive for this title’s first time out. A sequel is in the planning stages, but no details have been released.
The lack of sales of Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground will put pressure on Activision to get its staple title back on track for the next sequel. Expect the next Tony Hawk game to pull out all of the stops in an effort to compete with the next version of Skate.
