Now reality has stepped in. Huawei has already unveiled its MateBook Fold [pictured], putting a working device in the paws of journalists while Apple fiddles with prototypes and leaks. Worse for the Cult of Cupertino, Amazon is developing its version of the same concept.
According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the online retail giant is on track to enter mass production in 2026 or 2027, comfortably ahead of Apple’s suggested timeline.
Jobs’ Mob, on the other hand, is dragging its feet. Kuo reckons Apple’s larger foldable might not see mass production until 2027 or 2028. Meanwhile, the company is also trying to cobble together a foldable iPhone, which might limp out the door in late 2026 if they can keep the delays under control.
Apple didn’t invent this category. They are not leading it. They are not even first to market. They are simply trying to catch up while their media fanbase does damage control. The Tame Apple Press has already declared the product a game-changer, despite it not existing, the details being vague, and other firms already shipping similar devices.
