We shall fight in the fields and in the streets
Finnish phone maker Nokia announced that it would defend itself
vigorously against Apple's legal onslaught brought about by Nokia's
claims of patent infringement on the part of the Cupertino based fruity
tech cult.
Last year Nokia alleged that Apple infringed 10 patents and it upped
the ante by filing a new complaint with the US International Trade
Commission, alleging Apple infringed seven Nokia patents in all of its
phones, media players and PCs.
A few days ago Apple filed a complaint with the US ITC seeking to block
imports of Nokia phones to the Land of the Free. Apple claims Nokia
nicked 13 of its patents.
Nokia doesn't seem to be impressed and it's vowing to continue the
legal struggle and defend itself. A Nokia spokesperson told the BBC
that Apple failed to agree on appropriate terms for using Nokia
technology and was "seeking a free ride on Nokia's innovation".
Mind you, when the Finns say they will defend vigorously, they mean
every word of it. Just ask Stalin's Red Army, whose brief 1939 winter vacation in Karelia cost it 125,000 dead.
