In an interview with Digitimes, Nvidia's General Manager of MCP Business Henry Drew said that the outfit had everything under control and that TSMC's 40nm yields were no longer an issue.
“TSMC's yields for its 40nm process has met our expectations and market rumors about the yields being lower than 20% are completely untrue,” said Drew. He also stressed that the GF100 series offered improved power consumption over performance compared to the GTX 285. Although consumption levels ended up somewhat higher than on the old 200 series, Drew believes that the performance boost justifies the extra juice needed to run Fermi cards.
Drew noted that Nvidia had a chance to launch a 512 core GPU in the future, but he did not elaborate. He also denied reports that Nvidia had lost a lot of market share to the competition and a recent survey by Jon Peddie Research backs his claims.
