In case you missed it, the Nintendo Switch 2 is built around a 7.9-inch 1080p LCD screen with 120Hz and HDR10 support. More interesting are the details regarding the custom Nvidia processor, which is now detailed as the Nvidia T239 SoC, featuring eight Arm Cortex-A78C cores running at 998MHz in handheld mode and 1,101MHz when docked. The GPU part of the SoC is Ampere-based, packing 1,536 CUDA cores, and working at 1,007MHz when docked and 561MHz in handheld mode. According to Nvidia, the GPU is rated at 3.072 TFLOPs in docked mode or 1.71 TFLOPs in handheld mode.
As Nintendo and Nvidia announced earlier, the Switch 2 will support Nvidia DLSS, which will give it an edge and allow it to run some AAA titles like Cyberpunk 2077 at much higher details.
According to Nintendo, the Switch 2 will pack 12GB of LPDDR5X in two 6GB modules, with a maximum bandwidth of 102GB/s. This is a significant improvement compared to 4GB on the first Switch. Nintendo also significantly upgraded the storage, adding 256GB of UFS storage that can be expanded by up to 2TB with MicroSD Express cards.
Nintendo is slowly building up the hype for the launch, and more information will probably be revealed as we draw closer to June 5th.
