DICE has now confirmed as Battlefield 3 hits the streets (the original announcement back at E3 was that the PlayStation 3 version of the game would also include the downloadable Battlefield 1943 on the disc as an extra offering for PlayStation 3 owners) that this original announcement has changed.
Instead, PlayStation 3 Battlefield 3 owners will be able to get DLC for Battlefield 3 a week ahead of the Xbox 360 and PC platforms. The decision was confirmed on the official Battlefield 3 Twitter feed. No actual reason was given for the change, but it can be assumed that getting the content a week early on the PS3 beats getting a downloadable game that many owners already have.
