The datacenter is exploding, and the number of global data center traffic will triple between 2016 and 2021. Datacenter to outside traffic doubled from two Exabytes in 2016 to four Exabytes in 2019, and by 2021 it is expected to grow to six Exabytes. Interestingly enough traffic within data centers is exploding, as it grew from five Exabytes in 2016 to 10 Exabytes in 2019, and by 2021 the expectations are that it will grow to 15 Exabytes.

Oppo has just announced the Oppo Find X2 and X2 Pro phones and the focus is on display: WQHD+ resolution with a 120 Hz variable fresh rate. The screen gets the front seat in the product announcement, the place usually reserved for camera. Oppo didn’t leave things to chance and enabled quite a capable camera in both models, but we want to focus on the motion-enhanced 120 Hz display, absolute color accuracy and always HDR experience, powered by the Pixelworks Iris 5 processor.

Qualcomm has the 5G patent quality lead

5G has already started happening in many parts of the world. Early adopters have already started rolling out their 5G networks in 2019, while there will be a lot more traction in 2020. Years before 5G started to materialize, many companies had to come up with very smart ideas on how to make 5G possible. Google launched the Stadia cloud gaming service in late November 2019, and it crashed and burned. Without going into too many details, it didn’t deliver what people had hoped and didn't let you play your games. Nvidia Geforce Now is now available for free to everyone, hour session at a time, while the Founder Edition costs $4.99, and offers priority and unlimited gaming. Most importantly, you can play most of the games you own.

Part One: 5G 

It all comes down to a single very memorable date, February 29, 2000, which was the first time I published an international article at The Register. Twenty years and thousands of stories later, I am ready to share some of my predictions for 2020. Let me start with 5G.

Intel has showcased a concept PC codenamed Horseshoe Bend, and this  gives you an idea of the future of the ultra-portable high-end PCs. Lenovo X1 Fold and Dell concept ORI already showcased their version of the concept, but Intel shared a bit of detail.
