Acer has been showing off a 7-inch tablet PC. The Android based tablet was amongst a pile of other
gizmos such as e-book readers,
all-in-one PCs and smartphones in Beijing.
The tablet PC uses a processor from Qualcomm is expected
to hit the market in the fourth quarter of 2010. Acer's tablet has a full QWERTY keyboard at the bottom
which reminded us of the Kindle e-reader.
Acer CEO Gianfranco Lanci, presented the device without
much comment at the company's press event and refused to comment on hardware
specs. The display was confirmed to be a 7-inch color
touchscreen, which is the main feature that keeps it from being a plain
e-reader.
Acer also introduced a multimedia entertainment system,
the Acer RevoView, and a home-use storage system, RevoCenter, both are capable
of connecting to devices such as PCs, handsets and e-book readers through
wireless networks.
