Well you have to think big
We always like to see a bit of optimism in the IT
industry however a statement that crossed our desk has to rank as one of the
best.
Qt Development Frameworks, which is part of the glorious
Nokia Empire wants to kill off .Net. Global sales, marketing and service director Daniel
Kihlberg speaking at Computex Taipei 2010 said it was possible for his outfit
to replace Microsoft to become the largest framework and tools for developing
application software and user interfaces.
On paper he thinks he has enough to pull this stunt off.
The Qtt development framework has been used by about 350,000 developers around
the world. It also has a large user base of Nokia smartphones and
cross-platform support for Symbian, MeeGo, Windows 7, Windows Mobile, Linux and
Mac OS.
The fact that Apple has managed to crawl its way into
being a credible player from obscurity has taught us to be careful before
writing anyone off in this industry. However Qt has a long way to go before it
can set .Net killing as its next big target. Still you need “high hopes”.
