Sony, the company that holds 70 percent of this already pretty obsolete market has announced that the floppy is done with sales in Japan on March 2011.

While we’re usually pretty sad to see “old friends” go, we must admit this decision is probably way past due, as a modest mp3 collection kept on the pretty unreliable floppy would most probably take up an entire room.

So, get your museum samples while you can because floppy is over and out. Good riddance? (Yup. sub.ed.)
