Qualcomm snatches Ventana Micro Systems

Brings more RISC-V manpower

Qualcomm Technologies has announced the acquisition of Ventana Micro Systems, a company specializing in compute chiplets based on the RISC-V open architecture.

According to the announcement, this strategic move will strengthen Qualcomm's CPU capabilities by integrating Ventana's expertise in RISC-V ISA development and complement Qualcomm's RISC-V and custom Oryon CPU development.

The Ventana Micro Systems, founded in 2018, is a member of the RISC-V International Board of Directors and its Technical Steering Committee, and is described as a company founded "to revolutionize the processor market by offering high-performance, extensible and secure compute chiplets based on RISC-V's open architecture."
