Making available not a crime
A federal Judge in Connecticut has ruled that the RIAA's standard argument, which is the basis of all of its P2P cases, is bogus.
The RIAA claims that if you are making files available on your shared file on your PC you are responsible for people making copies. However, Judge Janet Bond Arterton held that the RIAA needs to prove actual distribution of copies.
Many other cases hang on this particular ruling and seem to indicate that the more the RIAA takes people to court in contested hearings, the more likely it is that their legal arguments will be found to be groundless.
